HMB Mayor Eisen Working With State and County to Reduce Beach Impacts for Covid 19

March 22, 2020 by Michelle Leave a Comment

EMAIL FROM CITY Half Moon Bay MAYOR ADAM EISEN.
To the Half Moon Bay Community (vea la versión en español a continuación) ,
Over the weekend, Half Moon Bay and the Coastside saw an influx of visitors to our beaches and coastal amenities. We have heard from residents, and share in your frustration, that this goes against the intent of the County and Governor’s Shelter-at-Home Orders.
The entire City Council as well as City administration are as equally concerned as all of you. In order to mitigate community spread of COVID-19, we, as well as our neighbors, need to stay home unless absolutely essential.
City administration is working with local legislators and the Governor’s Office on remedies. While we own the land and parking lots for a few of our public beaches, jurisdiction of coastal access lies between the City, County, and State and we believe any action should be done collectively. Trust that City staff are working diligently to reduce impacts to the Coastside and our beaches. When decisions are made, we will communicate those to you right away.
Additionally, when we do go out for essential services, remember to maintain social distancing. This means staying six feet away from anyone you come across. Social distancing is equally as important when picking up prescriptions, to-go food, and groceries. When ordering to-go meals, the City strongly discourages ordering at the restaurant. Please call ahead and place your order first to limit the number of people inside and around our restaurants. We all need to work together to slow any community spread of this virus.
As a reminder, the order defines essential activities as necessary for the health and safety for individuals and their families. For the full list of essential activities, please see section 10 of the order or read the County’s press release.
Our community’s health and well-being continue to be our top priorities, and we will continue to provide additional updates as they become available. Visit www.hmbcity.com/covid19 for resources and updates on City-specific services.
I appreciate everyone who has been following the order and has been doing their part to help our community. The current situation is not one any of us would’ve hoped for but strengthening our community spirit is one positive that we can all hang on to help us get through this. I am confident this community has what it takes. Again, any comments or concerns, please email me.
Together in partnership,
Adam Eisen, Mayor
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Comunidad de Half Moon Bay,
Durante el fin de semana, Half Moon Bay y la Costa tuvieron un influjo de visitantes a nuestras playas y servicios costeros. Hemos escuchado a los residentes, y compartimos su frustración, que esto va en contra de la intención de las órdenes de Refugio en Casa del Condado y el Gobernador.
El Consejo y Administración de la Ciudad están preocupados al igual que todos ustedes. Con el fin de mitigar la propagación del COVID-19, nosotros, al igual que nuestros vecinos, necesitamos quedarnos en casa a menos que sea absolutamente esencial.
La Administración de la Ciudad está trabajando con legisladores locales y la oficina del Gobernador para remediar esta situación. Mientras seamos dueños del terreno y los estacionamientos de algunas de nuestras playas públicas, la jurisdicción del acceso costero recae entre la Ciudad, el Condado y el Estado y creemos que cualquier acción debe ser hecha colectivamente. Confíen en que el personal de la Ciudad está trabajando diligentemente para reducir los impactos en la Costa y nuestras playas. Les comunicaremos inmediatamente una vez que las decisiones sean tomadas.
Así mismo, cuando salgan por servicios esenciales, recuerden mantener distancia social. Esto quiere decir estar a mínimo 6 pies de distancia de cualquier persona. La distancia social es igual de importante que recoger medicamentos, comida para llevar, y provisiones. Cuando ordenen comida para llevar, la Ciudad recomienda fuertemente no ordenar en el restaurant. Por favor, llamen y hagan sus pedidos para limitar el número de personas dentro y alrededor de nuestros restaurantes. Todos necesitamos trabajar juntos para minimizar la propagación del virus en nuestra comunidad.
Cabe recordar, que la orden define actividades esenciales como necesarias para la salud y seguridad de individuos y sus familias. Para una lista completa de actividades esenciales, por favor visite la sección 10 de la orden o lea el comunicado de prensa del Condado.
La salud y bienestar de nuestra comunidad continúa siendo una de nuestras principales prioridades, y nosotros continuaremos proporcionando actualizaciones a medida que estén disponibles. Visite www.hmbcity.com/covid19 para recursos y actualizaciones en servicios específicos de la Ciudad.
Agradezco a cada uno de ustedes que ha seguido la orden y ha hecho su parte para ayudar a nuestra comunidad. La situación actual no es algo que ninguno de nosotros hubiera deseado pero fortalecer nuestro espíritu comunitario es algo positivo que todos podemos esperar para ayudarnos a superar esto. Estoy seguro de que esta comunidad tiene lo que se necesita para lograrlo. De nuevo, si tiene cualquier comentario o preocupación, por favor envíeme un correo electrónico.
Juntos en comunidad,
Adam Eisen
Alcalde de la Ciudad
