We will have a virtual San Mateo Protected Area Collaborative Community Compliance Forum on October 21st from 5:30-7:30.

Now a little background….
These forums are a chance for the community (enforcement officers, volunteers, non-profits, scientists, regular beach walkers, etc.) to voice their compliance concerns for the MPAs (and areas adjacent to MPAs- like Pillar Point) in San Mateo. Compliance means following Fish and Game regulations and other local laws, including MPA rules, of course. The Forum is really a listening session and public discussion of the compliance and enforcement concerns and recommended solutions. There is funding from OPC administered by RLF for the collaborative to carry out a project addressing the concerns brought up at the Forum. This is a chance for us to share our concerns and will also set up up to get some funding to help solve problems we identify.
Compliance Meeting Details:
Virtually join the San Mateo Marine Protected Area (MPA) Collaborative,
local enforcement officers, and community members to discuss
enforcement and compliance concerns for areas inside and adjacent to
MPAs in San Mateo County and to recommend local solutions.
• Voice your MPA compliance concerns
• Talk with your local officers and resource managers
• Tell us what is happening on your beaches and coastline
• Be an active ocean steward
• Enjoy ocean trivia and chances to win raffle prizes
Agenda: Introduction to California’s network of MPAs followed by
an open dialogue focused on compliance concerns around
MPAs and adjacent beach areas in San Mateo County. Concludes with a discussion of potential funding for solutions.

Please note the opportunity to join a virtual community forum to discuss issues affecting compliance of marine protected area (MPA) rules in San Francisco and Marin.
The Golden Gate Marine Protected Area Compliance Forum will be held
via Zoom on Sept. 30th from 5:30 – 7:30 PM. Here is a

This is a public meeting for MPA managers to hear about where MPA violations may be occurring.
A flyer with details is attached. Please forward this to any vessel captains in the area who you think might be interested in attending.
