Purisima Creek Redwoods Preserve Parking Area Reopens Saturday, Jan. 13

Sat. January 13th

Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve is located on the western slopes of the Santa Cruz Mountains overlooking Half Moon Bay. The centerpiece of this 5,412-acre preserve is Purisima Creek Canyon, with its towering redwoods, rushing creek, and understory of ferns, berries, and wildflowers. Magnificent views of the coast and Half Moon Bay are visible from the northern part of the preserve.

The preserve was established with a gift of $2 million from the Save-the-Redwoods League.

THANK YOU for your patience! Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve’s Purisima Creek Road parking area south of Half Moon Bay will be OPEN beginning Saturday, January 13 due to San Mateo County suspending their nearby storm-repair work until spring and reopening the county roadway.

Always check Midpen’s trail conditions webpage for the most up-to-date information before heading out, and have a plan B if this small preserve parking area is full.

Midpen is working on solutions to expand parking in the coastal area of the popular Purisima Creek Redwoods Preserve.

This preserve parking area may need to temporarily close again in the spring when the county resumes their storm-damage repair work to the adjacent county road.
