Please join us at Cabrillo Unified School District’s (CUSD’s) Open House Community Meetings to preview its workforce housing plans. The project includes 60 rental units for faculty and staff, at Kelly Avenue/Highway 1, and Central Avenue/3rd Avenue. These meetings will give the community a first opportunity to understand CUSD’s workforce housing vision and review the proposed project designs. You’re invited to join these meetings to gain project information, have your questions answered, and offer your comments as the planning process unfolds over the next year.

With limited funding available for education and increasingly unaffordable regional housing, CUSD now joins other districts to propose educational workforce housing for district employees.
As envisioned in the Local Coastal Plan, the project includes 60 rental units for CUSD faculty and staff at discounted rents, allowing CUSD employees to live in the community they serve:
Also included are Hatch Elementary School improvements including additional pick-up/drop-off, traffic improvements on Kelly Avenue, and improved educational spaces for students.
These meetings are the first opportunity for the community to learn about the project, ask questions, and provide feedback. There will be more opportunities over the course of the next year to learn other details about the project as they become available, comment on environmental review, and attend Planning Commission and City Council hearings on the project.

The Cabrillo Unified School District School Governing Board is comprised of five school board members who are elected by the local community. The role of the school board is to provide leadership and oversight of the district. The Board ensures that the district is responsive to the values, beliefs, and priorities of the community.
The term of office for school board members elected in regular elections is four years, beginning on the second Friday in December after their election. The board meets at least once a month at the District Office, 498 Kelly Avenue, Half Moon Bay. Meetings are open to the public and are usually held on Thursday nights at 6 pm. A portion of the board meeting consists of a “closed” session for the purpose of discussing confidential matters, such as personnel or student issues.
