Connect During These Covid Times: The New vyris Literary Magazine is Looking for 500 Word Writing Submissions

May 21, 2020 by Michelle 1 Comment

LITERARY SUBMISSION:  I know you are engaging with a population for which I and others don’t have access to but would like to ask you if you can work with them in creating something. It will give people such a mental boost to express themselves and see it later in a publication.

As we go through this terrible time, many of us have fear and thoughts of how life will change. Often, it helps to express your feelings in writing and release them from your mind. If we share, we connect. Others read, relate, and know they are not alone.

vyris, a new online literary magazine, has been created to give coastside residents the opportunity to contribute their creation. We have an editorial team of summer interns eager and excited to begin working to have this published online by the end of June.

Please review the submission guidelines at www.vyris2020.com and feel free to share with your neighbors, especially young children! There is no cost to participate and we cannot create this without your contribution!

Should you have any questions, please feel free to email vyris2020@gmail.com.

Please share with others as you are able!

Thank you!

Sincerely,
GraceAnn Stewart

= vyris is a new online literary magazine that will publish writing and illustrations created by coastsiders in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. vyris will be live by the end of June 2020 at www.vyris2020.com.

Coastside residents of all ages are invited to submit writing of any kind (poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, or anything in between) involving the pandemic or its effects in some way. It doesn’t have to explicitly reference COVID-19 but should be crafted within the context of the pandemic. Your submission should be 500 words or less. You may include original artwork or photography with your writing. If you only send art, attempts will be made to include it. One submission per person please.

DETAILS: Email your submission by Sunday, June 7, 2020 to vyris2020@gmail.com and include your full name, phone number, and coastside location. If you are under 18, please include your age. If you are over 18, you are welcome but not required to include your age. By submitting, you acknowledge that there may be minor edits before publishing. Every effort will be made to preserve the spirit of the piece; however, you will be contacted to discuss any significant changes. By submitting, you agree to release your submission to be published, shared online (with your name, coastside location, and age), and printed.

QUESTIONS: Email: vyris2020@gmail.com.
