All Fireworks and Alcohol are Always Illegal From Half Moon Bay to Montara

June 27, 2023 by Michelle Leave a Comment

4th of July Weekend in Half Moon Bay – Be Sure to Celebrate Safely!

Here are some important things to keep in mind to help ensure a safe, fun 4th of July weekend for everyone:

  • If you plan to visit a Half Moon Bay beach 4th of July weekend, please remember to do your part in keeping the beaches clean. Always carry out what you carry in!
  • Plan your travel accordingly and expect traffic delays throughout the holiday weekend. Remember – there are many beaches to see on the coast; see the full list on the City’s website, and “discover” your own new beach destination.
  • ALL types of fireworks, including the so-called “safe and sane” variety, are illegal in Half Moon Bay and unincorporated areas of San Mateo County. Fireworks obtained in other areas may not be brought into or used within Half Moon Bay.
  • Shooting a gun in the air in celebration of the holiday – or for any reason – is illegal and dangerous.
  • Law enforcement and fire personnel will be on the lookout for illegal fireworks and for any celebratory gunshots – violators will be subject to citation or arrest.
  • City Offices will be closed Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4 and will reopen Wednesday, July 5.
