What’s Up with the Logs at the Surfer’s Beach Parking Lot?

December 4, 2018 by Michelle

ARTICLE. The GCSD owns the approx. 7 acre parcel known as the Burnham Strip. The dirt parking area, on the east side of the highway, is know by surfers as The Jetty. Non-surfers call it Surfer’s Beach ;-).

It was purchased from the Harbor District in 2010 for the SAM underground storage project, with future sights of becoming a park once GCSD was reorganized to a CSD.

Upon instruction from the Board, the logs were place in the unofficial parking lot on the property line contiguous with the Caltrans easement.

The purpose is to prevent vehicles from driving through the property from Obispo Road to get to Hwy. 1 or vice versa.

We obtained a CDX permit from the San Mateo County Planning and Building Dept., meaning we were exempt from obtaining a permit, as the logs are not permanent structures.

All complaints should be directed in writing to the Board of Directors, GCSD, PO Box 335, El Granada, Ca 94018 or via email to:gsd@granada.ca.gov, or they may call the office (650) 726-7093 to speak with me.
