Montara Water and Sanitary District Appoints Peter Dekker to Board of Directors

November 28, 2019 by Michelle

ARTICLE / VIDEO. Montara, CA – On November 21st, the Montara Water and Sanitary District (MWSD) selected Peter Dekker for appointment to the District’s Board of Directors. Director Dekker, a 28-year Montara resident, was selected from several candidates to fill former Director Eric Marshall’s seat.

Eric Marshall

As a long-time resident, Director Dekker previously participated in the successful community-led effort that saw MWSD acquire and protect the privately-owned local water system in 2003. These early community efforts secured Director Dekker’s interest in water, and the work and systems necessary to ensure high quality, clean water for our every day uses.

“I am proud to assume a leadership role on the Board of our critical local utility. Water, wastewater and garbage services are essential to maintaining the beauty and health of our great coastside, said Director Dekker. I look forward to providing leadership and securing support for continued investment in these critical infrastructure systems.”

Director Dekker brings a strong financial and business operations background to his new role. Now retired, he previously served as the Chief Financial Officer for the California operations of a global import business, and then as Owner and CEO of his own import business. Director Dekker has raised a daughter and son in Montara, and has resided here with his wife since 1991.

Director Eric Marshall resigned in his Board position in October following his relocation out of the district.
