VIDEO. The path design is for a 12′ wide trail, with 8 feet of asphalt and 2 feet of crushed granite shoulder on either side, like the Mirada trail. Construction will occur on the east side of Hwy 1 in the Cal Trans right of way, from Medio Creek to Coronado intersection.
Highway 1 Parallel Trail
aka Midcoast MultiModal Trail
This trail has long been envisioned as an east-of-highway active transportation trail connecting the Midcoast communities to each other and to Half Moon Bay.
The trail is expected to be completed in 4 segments.
Southern segment (Mirada to Coronado)

Funding for Planning/Permitting
Phase 1: BKF Engineers Scope of Work
Phase 2: BKF Engineers Scope of Work, staff report
Phase 3: Construction expected in 2020, estimate $3.9 million
Northern segment (Moss Beach to Montara)
Midcoast Multimodal Trail Project
The first segment being implemented is between Mirada Road north to Coronado Street. Conceptually, the trail will be located in Highway 1’s eastern right-of-way the entire length of the trail. With this alignment, the Trail would be easily accessed by residents living on the east side of Highway 1, require no highway crossings and act as a Safe Route to School for children at El Granada Elementary School. The details of the alignment will be finalized through an alternative analysis and environmental review.
