Bay Area saxophonist Patrick Wolff  joins forces with jazz guitarist, Peter Bernstein.

Wolff has become a creative force in the S.F. Bay Area since relocating here in 2009 from New York City. He has made his mark as a bandleader, honing an enthralling repertoire of overlooked gems by masters from the bebop and hard bop eras like Clifford Jordan and Lucky Thompson, and as a composer who crafts intricate, intertwining compositions that push the boundaries. Wolff’s playing is characterized by a focus on lyricism and an embrace of the whole lineage of jazz styles. He has performed with many of the world’s jazz greats, including more recently Charles McPherson and Chris Potter.

Wolff’s featured quartet is one of SF’s longest running jazz groups, with over a decade of keeping the late-night jazz spirit alive in weekly engagements at Club Deluxe and the Redwood Room. They have hosted guests like Grant Stewart, Jon Gordon, and Harry Allen, linking the local scene with the greatest musicians of the NY world.

Jazz guitarist Peter Bernstein has been a part of the jazz scene in New York and abroad since 1989. Bernstein was first discovered by alto saxophonist Lou Donaldson and then became a member of the legendary drummer Jimmy Cobb’s group Cobb’s Mob, and then the highly acclaimed Larry Goldings/Peter Bernstein/Bill Stewart trio. Bernstein was also a member of Joshua Redman’s band, Diana Krall’s quartet and the legendary organist Dr. Lonnie Smith’s trio. He has also appeared in groups led by Sonny Rollins, Bobby Hutcherson, George Coleman, Fathead Newman, Brad Mehldau, Lee Konitz and many more.
