Come out for an afternoon of discovery and exploration of the natural world at Rancho Corral de Tierra!

As part of the City Nature Challenge, we are bringing the Roving Ranger with us for our first naturalist program at Rancho and will spend time together in groups as we look for and observe the flora and fauna along the Ocean View Loop at Rancho.

We’ll look for birds, mammals, wildflowers, reptiles, butterflies, beetles, mushrooms—all the nature we can find! People of all ages and skill levels are welcome.

You bring your curiosity, a smart phone with the iNaturalist app installed (or a digital camera), and tons of enthusiasm.

We’ll be joined by local naturalists and others who know the area. Together we’ll make some science!

We’ll show you how to observe and record your observations using iNaturalist, and binoculars and hand lenses will be provided. We will meet at the Le Conte Trailhead, head out to observe, then come back to share our findings.

Please note there are no bathrooms or water at the site, so please stop at the Montara State Beach (either parking lot) for restroom facilities.

Do bring layers, sunscreen, and water with you. We look forward to discovering and exploring with you!
