(3 tours available – one per hour for residents served by MWSD)

Delivering drinking water to your taps is a complex balance of infrastructure, water supply, operations and maintenance. Ensuring that our sewage is managed and doesn’t impact our health or the natural environment is equally challenging. If you ever wondered how it all works, join us for a system tour!
Montara Water and Sanitary District staff will take you on a one hour tour of critical facilities in our community. We’ll start at our headquarters, then load into a van to visit our Alta Vista site with tour narrative along the way. Learn the challenges of keeping your water flowing, and protecting public health and the environment.

MWSD was formed in 1958 to manage Montara and Moss Beach’s local sewage and protect the coastside. Water service was added in 2003 following the community’s purchase of the private, poorly run water system.
Come learn about what we do, our historic headquarters, and celebrate our coastside community!

Meeting Schedule
Regular meetings are 7:30pm on the first and third Thursday of each month. They used to held at the District office at 8888 Cabrillo Hwy, next to Pt Montara Lighthouse and Hostel.

Who is on the Board of Directors?
The Board of Directors manages the affairs of the District. Through their bi-monthly meetings they set policy, enact appropriate resolutions or ordinances, approve all payments to vendors, review and approve the budget, set Sewer Service Charge rates, establish connection charges, hire staff, approve contracts and other necessary actions needed to carry out the business of the District.
There are five Board members, all of whom are elected at large, and must reside in the Montara or Moss Beach area. The current Board is as follows:
