The Half Moon Bay Odd Fellows Fall Vintage Film Night opens with a fun, futuristic space adventure, as we show episode three of the 1937 Flash Gordon serial Captured by Shark Men. Enjoy superheroes battling monsters as devious forces try to take over and Flash Gordon tries to save the day.

Next, we have two silent films with live piano accompaniment and original music by ShaunaPickett-Gordon. Shauna has entertained Coastside audiences for over ten years with her innovative compositions and exceptional talent.

Both films have railroad themes. The Iron Mule was an unusual comedy when it appeared in the mid 1920’s. A rattle-trap train endeavors to stay on the track and make it on time, neither ofwhich happens. Stalled by villains, animals and floods, the haphazard antics of a nonchalant crew will keep you in stitches.

The Hazards of Helen was the longest running silent serial, with 119 episodes from 1914 to 1917. The Leap from the Water Tower episode features a female telegrapher, who climbs a water tower and drops onto a moving train with a message to save it from a runaway disaster.
