CANCELLED Guided Elephant Seal Walks at Ano Nuevo

Journey to view a large colony of Northern elephant seals, guided by your docent naturalist on this moderate 3-mile, 2.5 hour adventure.

 

In the winter months, male elephant seals arrive along the shore of Año Nuevo State Park to establish hierarchy, while pregnant females come ashore to birth to their pups.

Bring warm clothes, sturdy shoes, and rain gear.

No umbrellas, strollers, or pets.

Accessible Equal Access Tours available on Fridays, weekends, and select holidays with reservation. Tickets are $7 per person plus $3.99 reservation fee.

COVID-19 Update

On behalf of our partners at California State Parks, here is the latest information on the response to to protect public health and the safety of our visitors, volunteers and staff during from coronavirus/COVID-19:

• Visitor centers — including ParkStores — and historic buildings are closed.
• All guided tours, programs and large events — including elephant seal walks at Año Nuevo State Park — are canceled until further notice.
• All campgrounds in the state park system are temporarily closed.

PARKS WILL REMAIN OPEN FOR ALL OTHER ACTIVITIES such as hiking, biking, surfing, birding and relaxing. Restrooms also remain open, and visitors are advised to take soap for handwashing and alcohol-based hand sanitizers when water is not available.
We recognize the importance of visiting state parks and beaches represents an opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy fresh air with family and friends and escape from our daily routines. Visitors are reminded to practice social distancing and maintain at least six feet between other visitors and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
