Greetings Coastside CERTS,
As part or our ongoing commitment to training we are offering a course for CERT ham radio operators. This is a hybrid course that will be presented on Zoom and over ham radio. This course was created by Coastside CERT and Half Moon Bay ARES to specifically address the role of the ham operator in the CERT Neighborhood Command Post. This course will provide:
- an overview of where you fit in the CERT communications hierarchy
- practice joining the CERT ARES radio net using your radio
- practice in basic message handling using your radio
- practice in logging
- answers to your questions
- additional resources
Who should take this course? Licensed ham radio operators who may volunteer for their neighborhood CERT radio communications, or would like to learn more about the role and responsibilities of the CERT ham operator role.
Where is this course being held? At home via Zoom and on the air using your ham radio.
When is this course being held? Saturday, July 17, 2021 – 10:00 to approx. 12:00.

There is a limit to the number of students that we can handle at one time. Students will receive an email with links to the student guide and simple instructions to get prepared for the class. We will be providing some technical assistance, beforehand, so that students can test their gear and confirm that it works.
