My name is Patricia Kimie and I’m a Pre-Arrangement counselor at Benito & Azzaro, an established Funeral Home in Santa Cruz County.

In my years of working throughout the region, I have helped many families navigate this sometimes unfamiliar process.

Every individual is unique and deserves undivided attention while they take the steps through the decision-making process towards a customized plan.

Even the simplest cremation contains many details for an organized and smooth transition.

I have been helping families pre-plan their final wishes since 2015.

Prior to this, I managed a firm that specialized in Medicare Supplements and Long Term Care programs.

I understand the importance of listening and I focus on bringing my professional experience and expertise to customize the best plan for every individual so they can have peace of mind.

My forte is the ability to create a safe, comfortable environment so it is easier for the client to make sound financial and emotional decisions.

Purissima Historic Green Burial Cemetery

The choice for resting with nature

Welcome to a peaceful place to rest

Purissima Historic Cemetery dates back to the 1860’s when the town of Purissima (Spanish for “purest”) was situated here, complete with a post office, hotel, dance hall, schoolhouse, livery stable, saloon, and several stores. A lumber mill supported the redwood logging operation in the Santa Cruz mountains. The town was abandoned before WWII.

In 2017, Ed Bixby purchased the overgrown cemetery. He then cleaned up the trails and historic gravesites to create a green burial space. The property is surrounded by massive cedar and pine trees alongside the Purissima creek with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean.

Why green?

Traditional burials and cremations create a lot of greenhouse emissions. The use of a metal casket and concrete vault creates a significant amount of carbon dioxide in their construction and transportation. Cremation emits enough gas to run a typical house for over a week or drive a SUV over 400 miles. Green burial is an option that has minimal environmental impact that aids in the conservation of natural resources.

To choose your plot:

Check PrePlanWithPatricia.com for upcoming group tour dates or contact Patricia to schedule a tour.

If self-touring, take a flag marker from behind the shed, write your name on it and place it securely in the ground where you wish your plot to be. Take a picture of the location with a reference point (tree etc.).

You can also drop a pin on the map of your smart phone to capture the GPS coordinates.

Email or text a description of the location and picture to Patricia (email below).

Once purchased, your plot will be surveyed, a stone marker will be placed and you will be sent a deed to your property.

Cemetery Zones (individual/couples/groups):

1. Pioneer Range, $3,500 (Lower right PR, Blue on colored map)

2. Cattle View, $4,500 (Left side CV, Green on colored map)

3. Pacific View, $5,500 (Upper area PV, Purple on colored map) A discount of $250 is offered when two full-body plots are purchased at the same time. Cremation-only final resting plots: 3’x3′ $1,500. 1’x1′ $750 (includes opening and closing)

4. Group areas* (Lower left GA, Yellow on colored map) Group zone areas are assigned to a specific organization and not available for general purchase. Family small group plots can be placed anywhere throughout the cemetery. Markers of stones (engraved available) and remembrances of other types (native trees or plants) can be used within our guidelines. Full body or cremation burial requires only biodegradable coffins, shrouds, urns, etc. The zone lines on the map are not precise and final price is based on site survey positioning. Areas near some historic gravesites are not available.
