The last phase of the Coastside County Water District pipeline update has finally begun! Their distribution system, which has been updated in sections overtime, runs from El Granada to Moonridge. The final 1,000 foot section of the pipeline to be updated is directly under Main Street Bridge. It was originally put off because of potential plans to update the Main Street Bridge. The Coastside County Water District says they have to complete the pipeline soon before any chlorinated water leaks out of the old pipe and harms the wildlife in the creek below the bridge.
Pipeline replacement work will take place Monday through Saturday from 8am to 6pm. The work should be completed by May 3rd. Both residents and visitors can expect some disturbance. Some noise, dust, and a lack of parking are all likely.
The streets most likely to be affected are Main Street including cross streets Pruissima, Mill, and Church and Kelly Avenue. Businesses and residents should retain full access to their driveways. If there are to be any parking limits, notices will be posted 2 days in advance.
Please be aware that you might also experience a disruption in water service if you live or work downtown, though you will also receive notice 2 days in advance.
If you have questions or concerns, approach the Coastside County Water District inspector who will be onsite during work hours.
