Thrive Alliance Candidate Forum Board of Supervisors, 3rd District with Ray Mueller and Laura Parmer-Lohan

REGISTER >>>> Thrive, in partnership with other nonprofits, is hosting a series of candidate forums to elevate the most pressing issues of nonprofits and their communities in San Mateo County.

The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors oversees county departments, programs, and property, with an annual budget of over $3 billion.

All districts have changed since the 2020 census report and the redistricting process that followed.

District 3 includes the cities of Atherton, Southeast Belmont, Half Moon Bay, Pacifica, Portola Valley, San Carlos, and Woodside, Unincorporated Devonshire Canyon, El Granada, Emerald Lake Hills, Harbor Industrial Park, La Honda, Ladera, Loma Mar, Los Trancos Woods, Miramar, Montara, Moss Beach, Palomar Park, Pescadero, Princeton By-The-Sea, San Gregorio, Skyline, Skylonda, Stanford Lands, Vista Verde, and West Menlo Park.

Ray Mueller is a California native and Bay Area resident of over 25 years. He is a third-term Menlo Park City Councilmember, elected city-wide in 2012 and 2016, and has served as Mayor twice, where he was able to work on projects which have had an impact county-wide. He served as Menlo Park’s last city-wide elected Councilmember Mayor in 2019 and ran unopposed in the first District 5 City Council election in 2020. Ray attended UC Berkeley as an undergraduate and received his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.

Local Councilmember and former Mayor Laura Parmer-Lohan champions a vision for the County that includes communities prepared for any emergency such as wildfire, flooding, sea-level-rise, housing near transit to fight traffic gridlock, and a region affordable to teachers, firefighters, essential workers, and future generation. A graduate of UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, small businesswoman, and working mom, Laura’s inclusive leadership style embraces the unique characteristics and needs of our diverse Coastal and Peninsula communities.
