The HEAL Project camps are packed with outdoor learning activities that inspire a love of nature, an appreciation of healthy food and a respect for our agricultural heritage.

Ages 6 to 11.

Campers will plant, harvest, cook, hike, discover, craft, laugh and learn during our farm-based camps. Through discovering the wonder of the natural world around us, campers build a deeper connection to nature, themselves and each other.

“My daughter comes home inspired creatively, eager to cook and plant! She enjoys spending all day on the farm, being so close to nature.”

— Summer Camp Parent, 2019

Why choose The HEAL Project camp experience?

The HEAL Project works hard to make our summer camps and harvest camps memorable for each of our campers. By forging connections with local food systems, our campers gain valuable life skills, make community and engage with the world around them. In our hands-on farm activities, there’s something for everyone.

Camp days kick off with free time and a group game. Next, we build camp agreements to ensure a fun, safe and educational camp space for everyone. We do three themed activities each day that vary between cooking, arts and crafts, science activities, hiking and helping out with farm projects. After lunch, campers enjoy free time full of outdoor activities like the digging square, snail races, butterfly nets and magnifying glasses. Our staff and interns lead small-group games during this time, but we also leave it open to see what the campers want to explore! In the afternoon we have our third activity, followed by snack and story time. Our stories bring together farming and cooking concepts with age-appropriate books and tales. Nestled on hay bales and pillows, campers have the chance to reflect on their day as they listen to the story. We finish the day off by playing in the willow trees or on the play structure in the park before pick-up.

Our camps are staffed with experienced outdoor educators. We have two staff members and two interns at every session. We cap out each week-long session at 15 campers so that we can maintain a low staff to camper ratio. This low ratio makes it possible for us to get to know each camper and also gives us the flexibility to adjust our schedule to fit the needs of the group. We love having parent volunteers and special community guests join us at camp to help out with activities!

More info for parents

“HEAL camp helps to reinforce the important environmental lessons we try to instill in our children. Conserving, recycling, growing our own food, being kind to all living things, Planet Earth is a precious gift we are all borrowing for a short time.”
