Resource Conservation District (RCD) and SMCo Parks Host a Tour of Wildfire Fuels Reduction Work in Quarry Park

Join us for a tour of the Quarry Park Shaded Fuel Break project, hosted by the Resource Conservation District and San Mateo County Parks. We will discuss wildfire fuels reduction work that was done in different locations along the fire roads/ trails and answer questions.

WHAT: hiking tour with the project manager of the summer/fall 2022 wildfire fuels reduction work in Quarry Park, El Granada

 

WHO: anyone of any age is welcome to join; please note that we will walk on uneven surfaces on a dirt road with a steep gradient

 

WHEN: December 17, 2022 from 10 am to noon, rain or shine (plan to arrive a few minutes early, as we will begin promptly at 10)

 

WHERE: meeting in the parking area at the end of Santa Maria Avenue in the park; hiking to the intersection of Middle Ridge Road and Dolphine Road near the ridgetop

 

BRING/ WEAR: sturdy shoes for hiking, water and layers appropriate for the weather; leashes and pet waste bags for dogs

The Quarry Park Shaded Fuel Break was funded by the Coastal Conservancy to thin understory vegetation along trails and remove hazard trees. More information about the project is available at this RCD webpage and this County webpage. Please note that the event will focus on this project specifically and not other efforts pertaining to Quarry Park.
