Midpen (MROSD) Board will review Recommendations of the Purisima Creek Redwoods Preserve Multimodal Access and Transportation Demand Management Study Report

November 9th, 2022 @ 5:00pm - 7:00pm

Public Comment Opportunity.

ZOOM. Viewing the meeting in real-time at: https://openspace.zoom.us/j/82664818496 or listening to the meeting by dialing (669) 900-6833 or (346) 248-7799 (Meeting ID 82664818496).

The specific components of the Purisima-to-the-Sea Trail and parking area project are:

  • Approximately 5 miles of new trail linking to the existing Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve trail system.
  • New parking area and trailhead.
  • Connector and roadway trails linking to the California Coastal Trail.

This project creates an opportunity to create improved parking capacity for coastal and preserve access in the area.

The Bay to Sea Trail is envisioned as an approximately 40-mile multiuse trail that will connect people from across the region to open space and create a link between the San Francisco Bay Trail and the California Coastal Trail along the Pacific Ocean.

In a special meeting on November 9th 2022 at 5 p.m., the Midpen board of directors will review and affirm the findings and recommendations of the Purisima Creek Redwoods Preserve Multimodal Access and Transportation Demand Management Study report. The goals of the project are to evaluate existing preserve parking, access and visitation; identify strategies to parking and traffic issues and manage visitation; and develop an implementation plan.

This meeting will be held both in-person at the Midpen Administrative Office at 5050 El Camino Real, Los Altos AND via teleconference.

Complete information on how to attend and submit a public comment is included in the meeting agenda.

The Purisima Multimodal Access Study project began in August 2021 to review local and regional plans, evaluate existing site and visitation conditions at Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve, identify recommended preserve-wide transportation demand management strategies, conduct public engagement to solicit feedback and develop a broad implementation plan for the recommended strategies. The Planning and Natural Resources Committee has provided guidance throughout the development of the project to make ready for review and consideration by the full Board.
