Come Visit the HAM Radio Operators from the Half Moon Bay ARES Group as they Set Up Field Day at Venice Beach to Talk to the World!
June 25th, 2022 - June 26th, 2022
The weekend of June 25th/26th, 2022 Half Moon Bay ARES Group will have ham radio Field Day at Venice Beach from 11am Saturday to 11am Sunday. They will be operating under emergency conditions and encourage you to stop by, maybe get a microphone in your hand and speak on ham radio. It’s possible there will be remote broadcasts from KHMB.
The club is now able to offer licensing exams in HMB thanks to the efforts of Peter Chupity of the SC4 Amateur Radio Club in La Honda. There are enough licensed volunteer examiners (VEs) on the coastside to administer the FCC exams so people don’t have to drive over the hill to get their license.
The HMB ARES Group volunteers engage in training, exercises, and also perform public service by providing support and communications services for parades, festivals, marathons, bicycle races, and similar events.
Members & Membership
HMB ARES consists of licensed amateurs who have voluntarily registered their qualifications and equipment, with their local ARES leadership, for communications duty.
HMB ARES was formed by the HMB Amateur Radio Club (HMBARC). You can join just the ARES Group, the Club, both, or neither. Many training and volunteer opportunities will be available regardless of membership status.
Training & Task Book
Training recommendations and requirements are still being developed. It is anticipated that there will be opportunities to participate in events and exercises that will be open to all hams. Some drills and any agency-related deployment will have specified requirements and levels of experience. All of which are still being formulated. Let us know if you would like to suggestions or would like to help.
